Georgia DUI Pick-Up Coins Test
Of all the "silly" non-validated tests used by police officers to determine a person's sobriety - the Pick-Up Coins Test may just top the list as being the most far-fetched.
When compared to such tests as the Breathalyzer (which is still inaccurate at times), this field sobriety test is almost deemed laughable.
Many of these non-validated tests have been passed around through word-of-mouth from police officer to police officer. Still, some have arisen through antiquated methods that have seemingly not been discarded.
So, what exactly is the Pick-Up Coins Test?
This "test" was a favorite among the Chicago Police Department up until the 1970's. An officer would toss coins on to the roadway. The officer would then call out "dime, nickel etc." and you are to pick-up the correct coin. Another version is that the officer would tell you to pick up the coins by "heads" or tails", to test your ability to follow directions.
Remember, that the Pick-Up Coins test is non-validated, which means that this type of field sobriety test is not approved by the state of Georgia.
If you believe you have been given this test,
our defense lawyers at the Law Offices of Webb, Willis, and Kohn must be made aware of this.
