Georgia DUI One Leg Stand Test
While this may seem more like a practical joke than an actual "test", officers take the One Leg Stand Test very seriously.
One of the three field sobriety tests, this assessment is approved by the state of Georgia.
During this
Georgia regulated field sobriety test
, you are instructed to stand with one foot approximately six inches off the ground. As you are maintaining this position, you are supposed to count aloud in thousands until the officer instructs you to place your foot down. You must look down with your arms at your side and point your toe out. The officer will time this for 30 seconds.
Officers look for four indicators during the One Leg Stand Test. The following indicators they are looking for are:
If you put your foot down during the test.
If you sway while trying to balance.
If you hop to maintain your balance.
If you use your arms to balance.
If the officer observes two of these actions, you have met the DUI arrest criteria.
