Alpharetta DUI Attorneys/Lawyers
If you have recently been arrested for driving under the influence (DUI) in Alpharetta, your mind is probably racing.
What is going to happen next? Will I go to jail? Will I lose my license? How can I afford the hefty fines that come with a conviction?
You need to hire an experienced attorney at the Law Offices of Webb, Willis, and Kohn
immediately
to put your mind at ease. It is in your best interest to obtain legal counsel from a lawyer who focuses exclusively on DUI law. Our attorneys know the ins and outs of DUI law in Alpharetta and offer you the best chance of avoiding the ramifications that come along with a DUI charge.
If you are found guilty of drunk driving, expect heavy fines. For a first time offense, the fines range from $300 to $1,000 as well as statutory surcharges (around 15-25%). For second and third offenses, these fines are increased.
You can also expect to lose your license. For drivers over the age of 21, your license will be suspended for a year. If you complete DUI school and pay the necessary reinstatement fees, you can get your license back in 120 days. During those 120 days, you can obtain a limited driving permit.
If you had a prior DUI offense, expect your license to be suspended for 3 years. The first year of this suspension is what is known as a “hard suspension.” This means that you absolutely can not drive, and are not eligible to receive a restricted permit.
Under 21 years old? If your blood alcohol content (BAC) level was under .08, your license is revoked for 6 months. If your BAC was higher, your driver’s license is revoked for one year and you can not acquire a limited driving permit.
You will also be expected to perform community service. For a first-time offense by a driver over 21, you will perform 40 hours. If this is your second of third conviction, you will perform 30 days of service.
Jail time may also be a part of your sentence. The time varies, based on prior convictions and other circumstances.
